Grapeseed oil (or vegetable oil or extra virgin olive oil)
1 1/2 tablespoons
Milk (or soy milk)
Chocolate bar (your favourite chocolate such as chocolate chips)
to your liking (I used 1/3 of a chocolate bar)
Preheat the oven for 200℃ (400℉).
(If it's troublesome, you don't need to do this step). Sift the flour and baking powder once.
Lightly mix flour, baking powder, and sugar with a spatula. Add oil, and fold it in until the mixture absorbs the oil.
Add your preferred amount of chocolate, and mix lightly. Add milk little by little, and bring the mixture together with the spatula.
Just before the dough comes together, use your hands to roll it into a ball.
Press down the dough and form into a 2-3 cm thick disk. Cut into 8 even pieces. Bake in the oven for about 13-15 minutes, and it's done.
Since I like bite-size pieces, I cut it into 8, but you can cut it into 4 large pieces or your preferred size, and bake them.
I got a new oven so I changed the baking time. I bake them in the preheated oven at 200℃ (400℉) for 17 minutes.
Story Behind this Recipe
I don't need very large portions, so I created this recipe for scones of just the right size!
If you have space for two racks in the oven, use the bottom one. When the dough is sticky, scones will be hard, so add flour and make it floury. When they are cooled, place them in a Ziploc bag to store.
