Pork, Sesame Seed & Ginger Stir Fry

Enhance the flavour of this stir-fry with one last dash of sesame oil. The ginger makes this stir-fry smell so good.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Thinly sliced pork belly
300 g
Salt and pepper
a small amount
Onion
1
Carrot
1/4
Green peppers
3
Ginger
1 piece
Sake
50 ml
Oyster sauce
2 teaspoons
Soy sauce
1-2 teaspoons
Sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon
Ground white sesame seeds
as needed
Vegetable oil
as needed

Steps

1. Slice the pork into 5 cm strips. Chop the onion in half and slice thinly. Slice the carrot thinly as well. Get rid of the stem and de-seed the bell peppers before cutting into thin strips and lastly julienne the ginger.
2. Grease the frying pan with a thin layer of vegetable oil and turn up the heat to high. Add the pork and season with a little salt and pepper.
3. Next, add the onion, carrot, bell peppers and ginger and quickly stir-fry. Pour in the sake, cover the pan with a lid and steam.
4. Once the liquid has mostly evaporated mix in the oyster sauce and 1 teaspoon soy sauce. Taste it, and if you think it needs more soy sauce, add another teaspoon. Lastly, add in the sesame oil and mix to complete.
5. Transfer to a plate and sprinkle over some sesame seeds to serve.

Story Behind this Recipe

I didn't know what sort of side dish to make for dinner so I just threw something together with the ingredients I had lying around. It tasted so good that I made a recipe out of it!
