How to Boil Bamboo Shoots

Boiling bamboo shoots in rice bran helps get rid of the bitter taste and makes it delicious.


Fresh bamboo shoots
Rice bran
1 cup
Red chili pepper


1. Wash the bamboo shoots and scrub off any impurities. Peel off 2-3 sections of skin. Cut off the tip with a diagonal slice and cut vertical notches into it.
2. Put the bamboo into a large pot and fill with water until covered. Add the red chili pepper and the rice bran. Boil on low heat for 40-60 minutes.
3. Once boiled, let it cool while still sitting in the pot. Once cooled, wash the rice bran and peel the skin.
