Simple and Easy Onion Gratin Soup

The only seasoning needed for this soup is consommé.
Make the soup rich and tasty with delicious homemade croutons.

Ingredients: 2 or more servings

Onion (sliced)
Olive oil
1 tablespoon
400 ml
Consommé soup stock cube
Salt and pepper
to taste
Garlic cheese croutons (Recipe ID: 1742908)
to taste
to taste


1. Thinly slice the onion. Pour olive oil in a sauce pan, then sauté the onion until translucent.
2. Add water and consommé, then simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Top with croutons (optional), then it's ready to serve.

Story Behind this Recipe

Croutons can be eaten as bite-sized crunchy snacks, or sprinkled in salads, so I make a lot and enjoy eating them in a variety of ways. This time, I made onion gratin soup.
