Hishimochi-Style Soboro Rice for Dolls' Festival

Hishimochi-Style Soboro Rice for Dolls' Festival

Children love soboro rice, so I made this for the Dolls' Festival. It was cute and well received!

Ingredients: 1 serving

Hot cooked white rice
100 g (50 g for the bottom layer and 50 g for the top layer)
As needed
Kinshi-tamago (thinly sliced omelet)
As needed (less than 1 egg's worth)
Carrot (or other vegetable)
As needed
An empty milk carton
5 cm diameter slice

1. Cut 5 cm of a clean milk carton and form into a diamond shape.
2. Cut one corner of the carton and tape it. (This will make it easier to unmold).
3. Place 50 g of the rice in the carton and cover it with plastic wrap before packing it down with your hands.
4. After adding the sorobo, top with the remaining 50 g of rice, then cover it with plastic wrap again and press the rice down.
5. Sprinkle the top of the rice with kinshi-tamago (Recipe ID: 1725899), adjust their shape, then peel off the tape and remove the milk carton.
6. You can also decorate the dish with flowers or leaves.
7. Take a look at how to cut carrots for decorating (Recipe ID: 1659790).
