Flavored Rice Made With Chunky Stew

This is great if you can save the liquid from the stewed pork you make.

Ingredients: 2 rice cooker cups of uncooked rice

Uncooked white rice
2 rice cooker cups (360ml)
Stewed pork liquid
Liquid that shiitake mushrooms soaked in
Dried shiitake mushrooms
2 pinches


1. Re-hydrate the dried shiitake mushrooms in warm water. Finely chop the re-hydrated mushrooms and the carrot. Cut the aburaage into bite-sized pieces.
2. Wash the rice and add the stew liquid up to the 2 cup line. If you don't have enough liquid, add the water that the shiitake mushrooms were soaking in.
3. Add the shiitake, carrots, and aburaage to the rice cooker bowl and cook. Once cooked, sprinkle with salt, stir, and enjoy!

Story Behind this Recipe

My mother made sticky rice using the liquid from stewed pork. My husband doesn't really like sticky rice, so I made it with regular rice.
