Addictive Tomato Cream Stew with Shrimp

This is a very rich stew that can be made readily with canned tomatoes. The combination of tomatoes and cream is a very addictive flavor. Add any ingredients of your choice.

Mushrooms or shimeji
★ Canned tomatoes
200 g (half)
★ Water
200 ml
★ Consommé soup stock
2 cubes
☆ Milk
200 ml
☆ Heavy cream (may be substituted with milk)
100 ml
Cumin powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon
Salt and pepper
a small amount


1. Roughly chop the onion and also cut the mushrooms into easy-to-eat sizes. Devein and wash the shrimp.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and stir in the shrimp, onion, and mushrooms in this order. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
3. Add all the ingredients marked ★ and cook covered with a lid until the onion is wilted.
4. Add the ingredients marked ☆. Add cumin powder if you like. Once boiled, check the taste, add salt and pepper if necessary and it's done.

I make this stew often with soy milk, but made a rich variation using milk and heavy cream.
