Flying Stone Cookies From Animation Laputa: Castle In The Sky

Flying Stone Cookies From Animation Laputa: Castle In The Sky

I made flying or levitation stone shaped cookies inspired by the Studio Ghibli movie Castle In The Sky (or Laputa: Castle In The Sky). Put one on your palm and shout "Pulse!" to your heart's content.

Ingredients: 20 cookies

Cookie dough of your choice (a not so sweet one)
About 20 cookies worth
Powdered sugar
100 g
2 tablespoons
White chocolate decorating pen
Blue food coloring
as needed

1. Take quail egg-sized portions of the cookie dough and form them into flying stone shapes.
2. Bake for 15 minutes in a 170°C oven. When they are baked, leave to cool.
3. While they are cooling, mix the powdered sugar, food coloring and water to make the icing.
4. Coat the whole surface of each cookie with the icing and draw the pattern on with the white chocolate pen.
5. The cookies look like this when broken in half.
6. Bonus: You can use any leftover cookie dough and sugar to form a robot emblem (from the same movie). Behold. There's no need to be afraid, this thing is dead from the start.
7. The flavor was so-so, but it was pretty when you looked through it.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to re-create those flying stones, so I tried making them as cookies.
