Tempura Crumbs and Small Shrimp (Sakura Shrimp) Onigiri

Crunchy tempura crumb and fragrant small shrimp fried in sesame oil go perfectly together. This is the third in my series of tempura crumb recipes.

Ingredients: 3~4 rice balls

Plain cooked rice
2 rice bowls' worth
Tempura crumbs
2 tablespoons
Small shrimp (Sakura shrimp)
3 tablespoons
●Sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon
●Soy sauce
1 teaspoon
Salt
to taste

Steps

1. Heat sesame oil, and fry the small shrimp.
2. Add soy sauce once they're crispy, and fry. It's really fragrant.
3. Mix shrimp from Step 2 and tempura crumbs into the rice, salt your hands, and mold the rice balls.
4. Eat them freshly made. The crunchy tempura bits are delicious.

Story Behind this Recipe

I used tempura crumbs from my favorite deli section. I had some leftover, so I added them to rice balls, and it turned out delicious!
