Meatballs in Sweet & Sour Ankake Sauce

Meatballs in Sweet & Sour Ankake Sauce

This is a simple side dish of beef and pork meatballs that are coated with a sweet-and-sour ankake (starch-thickened) sauce. This one of my family's favorites.

Ingredients: 2 people

Ground beef and pork mix
Japanese leek
1/2 stalk
3 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons
Salt and pepper
a small amount
(Seasoning Mix)
★Soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons
1 1/2 tablespoons
1 1/2 tablespoons
1 1/2 tablespoons
★Water (for the soup)
1/2 teaspoon
2 teaspoons
(Decorative) White sesame
to taste

1. Finely chop the Japanese leeks, and soak the panko in milk. Add salt and pepper to the ground meat, and knead until it all sticks together, add the above-mentioned Japanese leeks, bread crumbs, and katakuriko and mix together.
2. Roll into balls after mixing, and fry them in 360F/180C oil in a pan. Mix the ★ seasoning.
3. Take the meatballs out after they are fried, wipe the grease, add ★ to the same pan, and turn on the heat. Mix the ○ ingredients, adding ○ a bit at a time after bringing to a boil to thicken . After it has thickened, return the meatballs to the pan, coat with the mixture, and you are done.
4. I sprinkled white sesame on top for decoration. I arranged it with boiled broccoli this time.

Story Behind this Recipe

I used the regular hamburger steak meat mix in Chinese-flavored dish. This has now become one of my go-to recipes .
