Flower-decorated Sushi For Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day)

An easy recipe for flower sushi rolls using ingredients at your home. How about serving these for Girls' Day Festival or Setsubun?

Ingredients: 1 roll

Nori for sushi rolls
2 sheets
Sushi rice
240 g
Denbu - sweet pink-colored semidried fish flakes
as needed
Salmon flakes (readymade)
as needed
Cheesy kamaboko


1. Cut nori sheets as follows: one half, five sixths, and the rest in two thin strips.
2. Prepare 120 gram of sushi rice by topping with denbu and salmon flakes. Spread over nori cut in sixth, leaving about 20% uncovered, and roll up.
3. Repeat Step 2 five times and make five rolls.
4. Place cheesy kamaboko in center and place five rolls around it to make a flower. Combine everything with thin nori strips.
5. Spread sushi rice over the halved nori sheet. Place the combined roll from Step 4 and roll up.
6. They look like this when you slice them in half.
7. You could also make character sushi rolls (here, Anpanman) or even make them square.
8. Make various kinds of decorative sushi and enjoy your Girls' Day Festival!
