Candied Sardines for New Year's

These are easy to prepare because you use the microwave to roast them at first! It's a quick tazukuri (candied sardines).

Ingredients: 4-5 servings

Small dried sardines
50 g
Seasoning ingredients:
Sugar
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons
Mirin
1 tablespoon
Water
2 tablespoons
White sesame seeds
to taste

Steps

1. Arrange the small dried sardines on parchment paper, and roast in a microwave for 1.5 minutes at 600 W.
2. Add the combined seasoning ingredients into a frying pan, and cook until the mixture becomes brown and syrupy.
3. Add the small dried sardines and coat them with the sauce.
4. Spread onto the parchment paper and let them cool. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds and you're done!
