Easy Homemade Gochujang

This is a very mild gochujan (spicy Korean pepper paste) that can be eaten as-is over rice.


★Rice koji miso
130 g
★Soy sauce
100 ml
★Light brown sugar
80 to 100 g
★Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
Red chili pepper powder
1 to 2 tablespoon
Ichimi spice
1 tablespoon


1. Put the ★ ingredients in a pan over low heat. Stir well with a wooden spatula.
2. When the mixture comes to a boil, turn the heat off. Keep mixing until smooth.
3. Take off the heat and add the chili pepper powder little by little, mixing well between additions.
4. When the paste has cooled, transfer to a container with a lid and store in the refrigerator.
5. Use some of the gochujang for stir fried pork.
