Hearty Barbeque Flavored Pork-Wrapped Chikuwa Fish Sticks

Cheap chikuwa fish sticks, which are usually supporting players, become the stars of a meal with this recipe! Even just one is filling, and the barbecue flavor is delicious! Great for bentos too.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Chikuwa

Thinly sliced pork belly
200 to 250 g
Flour
As needed
Seasoning ingredients:
★ Water
100 ml
★ Ketchup
4 tablespoons
★ Sake
2 tablespoons
★ Sugar
1 tablespoon
★ Japanese style Worcestershire sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce
2 teaspoons each
★ Grated garlic
1 teaspoon

Steps

1. Cut the chikuwa in half to make 8 pieces. Wrap each piece with the pork. Mix the ★ ingredients together.
2. Coat the pork wrapped chikuwa with flour. Heat some oil in a frying pan and pan fry the rolls.
3. When browned on all sides, add the combined ★ ingredients. Cook over high heat while coating the rolls with the sauce, and it's done.
4. Transfer to serving plates and serve with parsley, lettuce, mizuna greens etc. on the side.
