Rich American Macaroni and Cheese

This is an American recipe my husband gave me.
Adding bacon and onions transforms this dish into a rich macaroni and cheese that is great for guests.


Macaroni (elbow)
200 g
Finely chopped onions
200 g
Chopped bacon
200 g
600 ml
Shredded cheddar cheese
200 g
40 g
★Mustard powder
5 g
★White flour
15 g
★Red bell pepper
5 g
★Bay leaf
★Black pepper
a pinch
a small amount
as needed
Parmesan cheese
as desired


1. 200 g of finely chopped onions.
2. 200 g of chopped bacon.
3. 200 g of shredded cheddar cheese.
4. 400 g of butter.

7. 600 ml of milk.
8. I forgot to take a picture of the 200 g of macaroni.
9. First, sauté the bacon.
10. Once the oil comes out of the bacon, add the onions and saute.
11. Once the onions have cooked through, add the ★ flour.
12. Next, add the butter.
13. Mix lightly.
14. Add the ★ seasonings.
15. Now this part is amazing! Without boiling, add the dry macaroni.
16. Add the milk.
17. Mix slowly.
18. Once it gets to this state, turn on the heat and cook while stirring, being careful not to let it burn.
19. Cook until the macaroni until it's slightly firm, then add the cheese. If it needs more moisture, adjust with milk.
20. Once the cheese has melted, try tasting a bit of the macaroni. It's best if the macaroni is al dente.
21. Put the macaroni into a heatproof dish and sprinkle with panko and Parmesan cheese.
22. Bake in an oven at 200℃ until the surface is lightly browned.
23. Once it's nicely browned, it's ready.

I wanted to eat the macaroni and cheese with bacon that my husband makes.
I begged him to make it for me.
Just as I thought, macaroni made by Americans is delicious.
