Okara, Oatmeal & Kinako Balls

All you have to do is the mix ingredients and create little round balls. These are easy to prepare and make a great snack. Why not try making these at home with your kids?

Ingredients: makes 18-20 small balls

Fresh okara
50 g
20 g
Kinako (or toasted barley flour)
6 g
Muscovado or light brown sugar
15-20 g
about 2 tablespoons
Kinako (or toasted barley flour) and icing sugar (for topping)
as needed, kinako (or barley flour) and icing sugar in a 1:1 ratio


1. Microwave the fresh okara for 2 minutes at 500 W.
2. Mix all of the ingredients together and then roll into balls. Then you're done! If you like, coat them with a mixture of kinako (or barley flour) and icing sugar.
3. "Lanlamp" made it with ground sesame seeds inside.

Story Behind this Recipe

I created this recipe because I wanted to use okara and oatmeal in a snack. Oatmeal is rich in dietary fibre and other minerals. My children loved them.
