Basil-Flavored California Roll

Basil-Flavored California Roll

Basil-flavored eggs and smoked salmon make the perfect pair! They also make great hand-rolled sushi! Of course, they're great with wine!

Ingredients: 1~2 servings

Uncooked white rice
1/2 a rice cooker cup (90 ml)
Nori seaweed
1 sheet
Boiled egg
Smoked salmon
4 slices
Basil sauce
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
Sushi vinegar
a little less than 1 tablespoon

1. Add the sushi vinegar to the freshly cooked rice and let cool.
2. Cut the cucumber into long, thin strips. (Make them thin enough to be easily rolled)
3. Chop the boiled egg, then season with the mayonnaise and basil sauce (like you're making an egg sandwich).
4. Put a thin layer of the rice from 1 on the nori. Put plastic wrap on top of the rice, then flip the whole thing over.
5. Put 2, 3, and the smoked salmon on top of the nori and roll into futomaki (fat rolls) to finish.

Story Behind this Recipe

I am often left with leftover basil sauce, so I wanted to try using it on something that wasn't Western food.
Why don't you listen to something like the Eagles' "Hotel California" today.
