Kinako Rusks

Kinako Rusks

You only need 15 minutes to make these simple rusks.
This is a great way to use up bread or crusts.

Sliced bread
1 slice
1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons
1/2 - 1 tablespoon
a small amount

1. Cut the bread into suitable sizes. This time I sliced it into 14 pieces.
2. Put them on a plate and microwave at 500 W for 2 minutes. Mix them once, and then microwave for another 1 and 1/2 minutes.
3. Try one, and if it's crunchy, move on to the next step. If it's not crunchy, microwave for another 30 seconds.
4. Put the butter in a plastic bag and melt it over hot water. Add the bread sticks, and shake the bag so the bread sticks are coated.
5. Add the kinako, sugar and salt, and shake. They are done when evenly coated with the kinako.

Story Behind this Recipe

I knew that toast and kinako were a good combination, and guessed that kinako rusks would be tasty too.
