Tonkatsu Sushi Roll

Tonkatsu Sushi Roll

Sushi rice and tonkatsu go amazingly well together. Serve before your kids have an important exam, for luck! (Note: 'katsu' is a homonym for 'win' in Japanese).

Ingredients: 1 roll

Tonkatsu (breaded deep fried pork cutlet)
As needed
☆ Cabbage (thick julienne)
about 20 to 30 g
☆ Mentsuyu
1/2 teaspoon
☆ Mayonnaise
about 1 teaspoon
☆ Ground sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
Tamagoyaki (flavored as you like)
As needed
Sushi rice
1 rice bowl's worth
Tonkatsu sauce (Japanese style Worcestershire sauce or steak sauce)
To taste
Nori seaweed (whole sheet)
1 sheet

1. Make a tamagoyaki. Let cool and julienne.
2. Put the ☆ ingredients in a bowl and mix. Brush the tonkatsu sauce on the tonkatsu.
3. Put the nori seaweed sheet on a sushi rolling mat. Top with the sushi rice, julienned cabbage, and the sliced tonkatsu (sauce side down), with the sliced tamagoyaki on one side, and roll.
4. Leave for a while with the cut side down. Moisten a kitchen knife by running it under water or wiping it with a wet kitchen or paper towel, and slice.
