Chestnut Rice (With Glutinous Mochi Rice)

In autumn, we want to savour the sweetness of chestnuts in this tasty rice dish! It's the time of year to enjoy this seasonal staple.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Uncooked rice
3 rice cooker cups (540 ml)
Mochi rice (optional)
1 cup (180 ml)
400 g
Black sesame seeds
to taste
2 tablespoons
1 1/2 teaspoons


1. Rinse the rice and let it sit in a colander for an hour so the moisture evaporates.
2. Quickly bring the chestnuts to a boil, then turn off the heat and cool down in water. Peel and soak in water for an hour.
3. Put the rice and water in the rice cooker, add the salt and sake, and stir. Then, add the chestnuts and switch the cooker on.
4. When it's done, let it steam for 10 minutes, and then mix, taking care not to crush the chestnuts. Transfer it to serving plates, sprinkle sesame seeds and enjoy.

I made my own version of my mother's recipe. We always make this in our house in autumn.
