Microwave the frozen noodles for 5 minutes until they start to separate.
In a pan, add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Add Hon dashi and turn on the heat to medium-high.
When it starts to boil, add the noodles and soy sauce and heat up while untangling the noodles.
Turn the heat to low and add the heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and season with salt and pepper. Serve on plates.
Sprinkle with the black pepper and enjoy!
Story Behind this Recipe
I had leftover heavy cream in the refrigerator. I also happened to have frozen udon noodles in the freezer. Since it was udon, I used Japanese flavoring ingredients, and it was surprisingly good!
If it's still firm after heating up in the microwave, it will separate in the pan. Please adjust the amount of soy sauce as you like. It's a one-pan meal, so less things to wash. Spinach or bacon may be good additions. You can jazz it up in many ways.
