Easy & Low Cal Chewy Taro Root Gratin

You can make an easy white sauce by making use of the stickiness of taro root and adding milk.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Taro root
400 g (about 6)
2 to 3 slices
20 g
200 ml
●Consommé stock cube
Easy melting cheese
to taste


1. Place the taro root in a heat-resistant bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave until soft enough to stick a toothpick through easily.
2. Once they have cooled, peel the skin and mash with a fork.
3. Melt butter in a frying pan and cook the thinly sliced bacon.
4. Add the taro from Step 2 and quickly cook while mixing with the bacon.
5. Add the ● ingredients and simmer until it thickens.
6. Once it has become this thick, it's done!
7. Divide into portions and arrange on plates. Top with lots of cheese and bake in the toaster oven until the cheese has become nicely browned.

This recipe makes use of the stickiness of taro root. I wanted to make a low calorie white-sauce style gratin that doesn't use katakuriko or flour!!
