A Chef's Recipe for Easy Chestnut Rice

A salted chestnut rice using autumnal chestnuts!

Ingredients: 2 servings

2 rice cooker cups (360 ml)
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
1 teaspoon
Kombu for dashi stock
About 10 cm
Roasted sesame seeds


1. Here's the star of this dish - chestnuts! Prepare some kombu if you have some around (but it's not absolutely necessary).
2. Peel the chestnuts! Don't give up! I recommend that you soak them in lukewarm water or cook them for 3 minutes in boiling water! Take care not to cut yourself!
3. Rinse the rice and drain in a colander or sieve.
4. Return the rice to the rice cooker. Add all ○ condiments. Pour water up to the 2 cup level.
5. Give the rice a stir, top it with kombu and chestnuts, and switch on the cooking cycle! You could also chop the chestnuts in half! Leave it alone for a while!
6. Done! Such a tempting aroma!
7. Portion it out into bowls and serve! Your savory, colorful chestnut rice is all done!
