Rinse the chestnuts roughly. Immerse the chestnuts in water in a pot. Cover with a lid, and cook over medium heat for about 30 - 40 minutes. (The cooking time will depend on the size of the chestnuts. )
When the chestnuts are cooked, drain the water and let them cool.
Cut the chestnuts in half, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon, etc.
Process the chestnuts in a food processor until smooth. (This process makes the preparation easy after thawing. )
Put the smoothed chestnut paste in a freezer bag, and freeze it.
When you thaw it, try this recipe and enjoy the delicious chestnut flavour. Recipe ID: 1555882.

Story Behind this Recipe
My parents gave me a lot of chestnuts, so I tried to preserve them. Raw chestnuts (without the shells) keep for a month at the longest when frozen because they absorb freezer odors, so I wanted to find a different method for preservation...
Cook the chestnuts soon after gathering them. Cook them as soon as possible if you bought them from a store. Take out a chestnut from the boiled water and cut to check whether it is cooked. If it is soft, the chestnuts are cooked.
