Heart-Shaped Decorated Cake

Heart-Shaped Decorated Cake

This is a pretty decorated cake in the shape of a heart. I recommend baking this for Valentine's Day or on your anniversary.

Ingredients: 1 15 cm heart cake

Strawberry Cream
Heavy cream
150 g
10 g

1. First, bake the sponge cake and slice it into 3 pieces.
2. Fold a piece of paper in half and draw half of a heart. Draw it big enough to use up as much of the 15cm cake as you can.
3. Open up the paper and place on the sponge cake. Match the size of the paper to the cake and cut out the heart. Cut it gently and slowly with a bread knife...
4. Cut all three pieces of cake.
5. Put the syrup ingredients in an appropriately sized container and microwave for 1 minute (or until the sugar dissolves). Let cool.
6. Whip together the heavy cream and sugar. Mix in the strawberries which have been crushed into a puree-like texture. (If using sauce, just mix it in as is.)
7. Now, it's time to assemble it! Spread the syrup onto the first layer of cake.
8. Smoothly spread on the cream. There are no strawberries in this layer, so you can use lots of cream!
9. Place on the second layer of cake and spread again with syrup.
10. Spread with some cream and place 4 sliced strawberries on top. 3 strawberries are fine, too. Cover the strawberries with enough cream to hide them.
11. Smooth out the cream and place the last sheet of sponge cake on top. Spread with syrup.
12. Cover the entire cake with the remaining cream. You don't have to spread it on nicely.
13. Use a palette knife of the back of a spoon to smear the cream to get an uneven texture, as seen in the photo.
14. Once the nappe has been finished, move the cake to a plate, decorate however you wish, and it's done!
15. Cross-section view. I also made it with 2 layers of strawberries!
16. I always put the remaining cake and cream into cups and use them as taste-testers.

Story Behind this Recipe

I had some strawberries and pink macarons laying around and thought that I could probably make a cute cake with them.
