Basil Lemonade

Basil Lemonade

This is something to look forward to having in the summer! This refreshing lemonade has a light and mildly fragrant of basil.

Ingredients: 4 to 6 servings

Lemons
4 to 5 (a little less than 200 ml worth)
Carbonated water
500 ml
Ice cubes
a good amount
Basil syrup
Basil (with stems)
4 to 5 stalks
White sugar
1/2 cup (100 ml)
Water
1/2 cup (100 ml)

Steps

1. Thoroughly rinse the basil, then cut the stalk in half lengthways. Combine the sugar, water, and basil in a small saucepan and heat on medium.
2. When the sugar dissolves and the water starts to boil, remove from the heat, and let sit for about 3 minutes.
3. Strain in a colander, then chill in the refrigerator. (You should have 150 ml of syrup.)
4. Squeeze the lemons, and remove the seeds. It's actually quite tasty if a little of the pulp gets into the juice.
5. Put the ice in a pitcher, slowly pour in the lemon juice, basil syrup, and carbonated water and stir. Pour into individual cups.
