[Farmhouse Recipe] Stir Fried Chirimenjako (semi-dried young sardines) with Bell Peppers

This is a standard veggie dish in the summer at our home. The bell peppers are cooked until soft and tender, which really helps absorb the delicious flavors.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Green bell pepper
200 g
White sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
[A]
Chirimenjako - salted semi-dried young sardines
20 g
Water
2 tablespoons
Sake, mirin, and soy sauce
1 tablespoon each
Sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon

Steps

1. Remove the seeds and stems from the bell peppers after cutting in half lengthwise, then cut horizontally into 5 cm strips.
2. Heat the sesame oil in frying pan, add the bell peppers and heat on a medium flame for about 1 minute, then turn down to a low flame and add [A] and simmer until the liquid boils down. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve!
