Soft and Fluffy Bread Machine Pizza Dough with Pesto Genovese Sauce

Soft and Fluffy Bread Machine Pizza Dough with Pesto Genovese Sauce

Prepare a soft and fluffy dough for an American-style pizza. The bread machine works wonders and it's not only easy to make, but also delicious up to the crust. This is one of my favorite pizzas.

Ingredients: 1 pizza pie, 25 x 25 cm

For the dough
All-purpose flour (See Helpful Hints)
200 g
Olive oil
12 g
Skim milk
6 g
5 g
3 g
110 ml
Dry yeast
3 g
For the sauce:
Pesto Genovese (Recipe ID: 1460890)
5 tablespoons
Heavy cream
1 tablespoon
Pizza cheese
more than 80 g

1. Put all ingredients for the dough in your bread making machine, select the pizza dough setting and press start. Prepare a 25 x 25 cm sheet of parchment paper.
2. Take the dough out of your machine and place on a sheet of parchment paper. Spread out the dough with your hands. Make the edges a tad thicker, for the crust. Preheat the oven to 392°F/200°C.
3. Gently pierce the surface of the dough with a fork, about 30-40 times.
4. Spread the basil pesto all over the surface, and very lightly pour some heavy cream on top.
5. Top with lots of pizza cheese and bake it for 20 minutes at 200°C.
6. It's done. Slice carefully so you don't get burned, and enjoy.

Story Behind this Recipe

I couldn't find a nice combination of ingredients for a pizza recipe that would be the perfect size to satisfy two people. I tried various recipes and finally came up with this. The pesto genovese recipe is not new for me, but I got the idea about heavy cream on the pesto from a restaurant I visited.
