White Fish & Vegetables with Black Vinegar and Chinese 5-Spice

The fresh aroma of Chinese 5-spice makes this feel like authentic Chinese cuisine.
It's good to treat your family to a restaurant-like flavor sometimes.

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

White fish (largescale blackfish is pictured)
about 200 g
Green peppers
Paprika peppers
about 5 cm
Shiitake mushrooms
Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
Pre-Seasoning, Coating
to taste
to taste
Chinese 5-spice powder
1-1/2 tablespoon
Plain flour
as needed
Baking powder
a small amount
Combined seasonings
Black Vinegar
3 tablespoons
2 to 3 tablespoons
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
2 teaspoons
100 ml
Katakuriko slurry
as needed


1. Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces. Flavor with salt and pepper and set aside. Cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces as well. Wipe away any excess moisture from the fish and coat with the Chinese 5-spices.
2. Coat the fish with a the flour and baking powder mixed together, and lightly fry.
3. Lightly cook the vegetables in sesame oil. Then add all of the combined seasoning ingredients. Once it comes to a boil add the katakuriko slurry to thicken.
4. Add the fried fish to Step 3, and lightly mix everything together and it's complete. Since it's got a strong flavor it's also delicious eaten over rice.
