Indonesian Dessert: Kolak

This is a healthy treat using coconut milk and sweet potatoes. It's delicious served hot or chilled.

Ingredients: easy to make amount

Sweet potatoes (cassava root)
☆Palm sugar (brown sugar)
3 tablespoons (to taste)
Coconut milk (powdered, canned, or raw)
200-300 g (liquid)
★Rum (optional)
as needed
★Cinnamon (powder or stick)
as needed
★Pandan leaves (optional)
about 20 cm
If you don't have the palm sugar, use regular sugar. The ★ ingredients are to taste


1. Prepare all ingredients.
2. This is the cassava root. If you can't get it, you can use sweet potato instead. Peel, then boil until softened.
3. Once soft, add the remaining ingredients and simmer until it's as rich as you like.
4. Done. Serve hot or chilled.
