For Bentos: Easy Microwave Tamagoyaki (Rolled Omelette)

A fluffy tamagoyaki (rolled Japanese omelette) made easily in the microwave. You can make this in no time without a frying pan. Great on busy mornings!

Ingredients: 1 serving

Egg
1
Sugar
1 scant teaspoon
Dashi stock granules
1 scant teaspoon

Steps

1. Put the sugar and dashi stock granules into a deep plate or bowl.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water and stir to dissolve the sugar and dashi granules. (I bought the tiny whisk in the photo at a 100 yen shop. I use it all the time.)
3. Add the egg and mix well.
4. Microwave for 1 minute. Take out and mix up the egg mixture.
5. Microwave for another minute.
6. Take it out, and cut into portions.
7. Done!
8. Note: Our microwave oven operates at 500 W.

Story Behind this Recipe

Ever since I came up with this method, I haven't used a frying pan to make tamagoyaki.
