Simple Sweet n' Sour Pork (With Thinly Sliced Pork)

Cheap thinly-sliced pork are a housewifes' best friend! Let's use what we have in the fridge for flavoring! The sweet n' sour pork goes well with rice. The sauce goes with many things.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Pork offcuts
300 g
1 medium
Green peppers
★Vinegar (black vinegar if available)
1 1/2 tablespoons
3 tablespoons
★Tonkatsu sauce
3 tablespoons
1/2 tablespoon
Katakuriko (or flour)
2 tablespoons

1. Place the pork meat into a plastic bag, and season with salt and pepper. Add the katakuriko, and coat the meat evenly. Add ★ to a bowl and mix well to make the sauce.
2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over a low medium heat, and fry the meat from Step 1 until crispy, while making sure it doesn't clump together. After about 5 minutes, add the carrots.
3. Add onions and green peppers, mix to coat the vegetables in oil, then pour the ★ sauce from Step 1.
4. It is done once the onions and green peppers have lightly cooked through. You don't need to thicken it with katakuriko!

Story Behind this Recipe

I challenged myself to make sweet n' sour pork with cheap pork offcuts. I also made the flavoring using ingredients readily available in any household. I originally used the same amount of instant hamburger sauce and ketchup to make bento, but I added vinegar and sugar to transform it into a sweet n' sour sauce!
