Faux Pork Cutlet (Tofu Cutlet)

These are faux pork cutlets for vegetarians. Except for the main ingredient, the rest is exactly like pork cutlet.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Firm tofu
1/2 block
All-purpose flour
as needed
as needed
as needed
as needed


1. Place a weight on top of the tofu to drain, then slice into 3 mm thick slabs.
2. Lightly season with salt and pepper, then coat first in flour, then whisked egg, and finally in panko.
3. Deep fry in medium-hot oil until nicely browned, then drain excess oil.
4. Serve with finely shredded cabbage, Japanese mustard, sauce, soy sauce, or mentsuyu.
