Put the eggs in a pan with enough water to cover them, and put on a high heat. Once the water comes to a boil, turn off the heat, and leave the pan as it is, with the lid on.
After 10 minutes, immediately put the eggs in cold water. Cool them thoroughly. Once cooled, peel the egg and it's done.
Story Behind this Recipe
I learned this method from an American granny in my neighbourhood. I adjusted the length of time to leave the egg. It's also so easy to peel the egg using this method.
Leaving the eggs for 10 minutes will result in a hard-boiled egg with a slightly soft centre. If you prefer it soft-boiled, leave the eggs for about 7-8 minutes. The length of time you leave it for also depends on the size of the eggs, so adjust this accordingly. If you want soft-boiled eggs, you should make sure the eggs have cooled completely in cold water. Otherwise they will go on cooking to become hard-boiled.
