Soft Tofu Hamburg Steak: Japanese Style

Soft hamburger steak! The sauce is a bit sweet but it's simple and tasty.

Ingredients: 3 servings

Firm tofu
1 block
Ground pork
150 g
Ground chicken
150 g
3 tablespoons
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon
★Grated ginger
1 teaspoon
★Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
★Sweet sake
2 tablespoons
★Japanese soup base
1 tablespoon
100 ml
◎ Katakuriko (dissolved in water)
1 tablespoon


1. Drain tofu. You can drain it easily putting it between two plates.
2. Mince onion and heat it in a pan until it becomes semitransparent (medium heat).
3. [How to make sauce] Add ★ in a pan, heat, and add ◎ katakuriko slurry to thicken.
4. Mix it well.
5. Make 6 patties. Make sure to remove the air pockets from patties!
6. Heat oil in a pan, place patties and make shallow wells in the center of the patties. Cover the pan (medium heat).
7. Add a little water and cover the pan again. Heat with steam. Sauté both sides of the patties.
8. [How to make sauce] Add ★ in a pan, heat it up, add the ◎ dissolved katakuriko to thicken it.
9. When both sides of patties are done, place them on a dish, and pour the sauce on it.
