This is an easy and inexpensive dish, but the ginger sauce is really delicious. The sweetness of the onion goes well with rice or with sake. It's great for rice bowls!
I wanted to use up the firm tofu I had that was nearing its best-by date.
You don't need to drain the water from the tofu. Once you put the tofu in the frying pan, they tend to fall apart, so try not to stir too much - shake the pan while cooking instead.
