Mom's Teriyaki Chicken with Green Onions

A teriyaki chicken dish with the sweetness from the green onions. You could serve this as your main dish, top over a bowl of rice, or nibble on with drinks.

Ingredients: For 1 chicken breast

Chicken breast (or chicken thigh meat)
1.5 tablespoons
*Sake and soy sauce
1 teaspoon each
Japanese leek
Teriyaki Sauce
Soy sauce, mirin
2 tablespoons of each
1 tablespoon
2 teaspoons


1. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces. Rub in the chicken with the mixed * seasoning until there's no liquid left. Cut the green onions into 3 cm length.
2. Heat 2 teaspoons of oil and cook the chicken until golden brown. Take out the chicken and set aside.
3. Add a little more oil and cook the green onions until browned and take out from the pan.
4. Boil teriyaki sauce ingredients in the pan and add the chicken and green onions. Cook until the sauce thickens.

Story Behind this Recipe

My family used to call chicken teriyaki with green onions. It's great with rice! I recreated this dish based off my childhood memories.
