Crispy Pork Loin & Cheese Cutlets

These are mille-feuille style pork and cheese cutlets.
This is just fantastic with a great flavor.
The cheese is hot, so be careful when eating.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Thinly sliced pork loin
12 slices
Non-melting cheese
3 slices
a small amount
a small amount
Frying oil
as needed
Lettuce or some other leafy vegetable
as needed
1/2 a batch of Simple 2-Step Batter (Recipe ID: 1364962)
Cake flour
4 tablespoons
2 and 1/2 tablespoon
as needed


1. Season the pork with salt and pepper and then place them into a cross formation as shown here.
2. Place 1/2 of a slice of a cheese, folded in half, in the center.
3. Fold the bottom piece of meat over the cheese, covering it.
4. Fold over the opposite side now.
5. Fold the bottom up of the top piece of meat.
6. Now fold the last part in (*Try to fold the meat tightly in Steps 1-5).
7. Now for the [Simple 2-Step Batter]. Crack the egg into a bowl and mix it with chopsticks. Add in the flour and water, and mix until no longer lumpy.
8. *Adjust the thickness of the batter by adding a little water or flour.
9. Take the folded meat and coat it with the batter and then with panko. Fry them in the heated oil.
10. Place some lettuce on a place, cut the cutlets in half and serve it up.
11. *This recipe calls for non-melting cheese (*if you do use regular melting cheese, the cheese does not maintain its form).

Story Behind this Recipe

I thought I could just roll up the cheese and fry it, but it turned out that the cheese leaks out during the frying process. So, I tried wrapping the cheese in pork.
