Put the chocolate into a heatproof bowl and melt in the microwave at 500 W for 1 minute and 30 seconds! It's okay if some of the chocolate doesn't melt.
Mix well with a rubber spatula. The residual heat will melt the rest of the chocolate. If it doesn't melt, microwave at 10 second intervals until it has completely melted.
Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, add the bread flour, and mix together. You do not have to sift the flour.
Add the chocolate chips and mix. Bring the dough together. If it's still powdery and you can't bring it all together, add a little vegetable oil at a time. Be careful not to add too much!!
Wrap in plastic and make into a log about 15 cm long. Let chill in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes to harden a bit. Be careful not to let it harden for too long!!
Slice into 1.5 cm thick slices. It should make about 12 pieces.
Arrange on a cookie sheet. Bake at 180°C for 10 minutes. If the cookies don't seem to be thoroughly baked enough, bake for another 1-2 minutes.
The finished product.
This is the white chocolate version!
Story Behind this Recipe
When making some chocolate bread, I forgot to add the water into the bread maker and it came out crispy like a cookie.
The dough will be different depending on the kind of bread flour and chocolate you decide to use. If the dough becomes sticky, add some more bread flour. If it becomes powdery, add some vegetable oil. If you let the dough chill for too long, it will harden and become too difficult to cut!! If you force it while cutting, the dough will crumble.
