Simmered King Oyster Mushrooms for Bento

Just use a microwave and you'll be done in 5 minutes! You don't need a cutting board or a knife.

Ingredients: 2 servings

King oyster mushrooms
1 pack (or 2-3 small-sized packs)
☆Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
☆Sake, sugar
1 teaspoon each
☆Sesame oil
2 teaspoons


1. Shred the king oyster mushrooms into your desired sizes.
2. Put the king oyster mushrooms in a heat-resistant dish (preferably a deep one) and pour the ingredients marked with ☆ over them. You can also use a silicone steamer.
3. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 2-3 minutes. They're done when the mushrooms are softened.
4. Mix lightly to blend the seasonings evenly.
5. Here's the silicone steamer that I used.
6. I also added shimeji mushrooms to this recipe. I used 1 pack each of king oyster mushrooms and shimeji mushrooms with 1.5 times more seasoning as listed on the ingredient list.
