Warming Curry Tofu

Warming Curry Tofu

Eat this hot tofu with Japanese-style thickened curry sauce on a cold day, and you'll be warmed right up.

Ingredients: 2 servings

1 block (300 g)
350 ml
★ Dashi stock granules
3 g
2 g
★ Usukuchi soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon
1 teaspoon
1 teaspoon
Curry powder
1/2 teaspoon or to taste
Katakuriko slurry
an appropriate amount

1. Slice the onion thinly and sauté in oil.
2. When the onion has browned, add the curry powder and continue sautéing.
3. Add the ★ ingredients, simmer, and skim off the scum.
4. Slice the tofu into whatever sized cubes and simmer in the sauce until warmed through.
5. Add the katakuriko slurry while stirring until the sauce has thickened. Take care not to break up the tofu. Drop the unbeaten egg into the middle and cover with a lid.
6. When the egg has somewhat set, scatter with some chopped green onion and it's done.

Story Behind this Recipe

I was tired of the same old simmered tofu, so I tried making a different hot tofu dish with curry sauce.
