My Family's Sweet n' Sour Pork

This is a delicious and proper sweet n' sour pork made using maple syrup and pineapple juice. This has been one of our family favorites for a long time.

Ingredients: 2 people

Pork roast or pork designated for sweet n' sour pork
150 g
For preparing the meat:

Green peppers
2
Shiitake mushrooms
3-4 mushrooms
Seasoning ingredients:
Vinegar
50 ml
Ketchup
45 ml
Maple syrup or honey

Pineapple juice
35 ml
Chicken soup stock granules
1 teaspoon
Katakuriko slurry
Water... 2 teaspoons; Potato starch...2 teaspoons
Soy sauce, sesame oil
as desired

Steps

1. Cut the meat into large bite-sized pieces, and cut the vegetables into easy-to-eat sizes.
2. Turn it back up to a strong heat for the finishing touches, and add the water-dissolved katakuriko to thicken. Add the meat, and drizzle with sesame oil to taste.
3. Place the vegetables into a heated pan and saute over strong heat, and add the soup ingredients once the onions are transparent. Reduce the heat, and cook through.
4. Check the flavor at this point, and add soy sauce to taste.

Story Behind this Recipe

It's not like I was chosen to be a recipe monitor for maple syrup and juice. This is how my family has enjoyed this dish. My husband, who dislikes pineapple juice in sweet n' sour pork, happily eats this and says it is delicious.
