Add two pinches of salt to the edamame and boil. After boiling, drain in a strainer.
Add the olive oil to a frying pan and cook the garlic and chili pepper on medium heat. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Add the edamame and cook while mixing.
Mix in the soy sauce.
Transfer to a serving plate and it's complete. Don't forget your ice cold beer.
Story Behind this Recipe
A long time ago I went to a restaurant where you smash up a crab with a hammer and eat it. That's where I first had these, and I was moved by how delicious they were. I remembered them after a couple of years and tried making them loosely based on what I remembered. It came out very well. I make this whenever I have fresh edamame.
Use whatever amounts of garlic, chili pepper, and soy sauce you like.
