Gateau au Chocolat in a Silicone Steamer

Gateau au Chocolat in a Silicone Steamer

Just microwave for 2 minutes and you'll have a professional-looking cake! It's an easy recipe without any whipping or baking. Chill it in the fridge, and eat it the next day.

Ingredients: 1 petit or regular sized silicone steamer

Chocolate (I used dark chocolate)
40 g
20 g
40 g (moderately sweet with 20 g)
Pancake mix
30 g
Cocoa powder
1 tablespoon
Vegetable oil
a small amount
Powdered sugar
as needed

1. Put the chopped chocolate and butter in a heat resistant bowl and microwave for 1 minute at 600 W to melt.
2. Mix Step 1 with a whisk, add the sugar, egg, pancake mix and cocoa powder, and mix well.
3. Grease the silicone steamer with vegetable oil. Pour in the batter, hold the lid with both hands and tap the container against your work space to remove any air bubbles.
4. Cover with the lids and microwave for 2 minutes. Let sit and steam for 3 minutes. This was made in a small (18 x 12 cm) steamer.
5. This was made in a regular (26 x 13 cm) steamer.
6. Remove the cake from the container, cut, and serve on a plate. Sprinkle powdered sugar to taste. (If you chill the cake in the fridge, the flavors will meld and be better.
7. If you line the steamer with parchment paper instead of coating with vegetable oil, it'll be easier to remove the cake.
8. I made this in a circular steamer.
