Cheese and Hanpen Sandwiches with Basil Pesto

I sandwiched cheese in baked hanpen and topped with aromatic basil sauce. The cheese melts to just the right texture.

Ingredients: 2 - 3 servings

Kraft sliced cheese with camembert
8 slices
4 slices
For the sauce:
★ Basil sauce (Recipe ID: 647443)
1 tablespoon
★ Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon
★ Lemon juice
1 teaspoon
Nuts (pine nuts, almond slices)
a few for decoration


1. Mix all the ingredients marked ★ to make the sauce. Prepare the 8 slices of cheese.
2. Spread the hanpen out in a non-stick frying pan without oil, and bake until browned on both sides.
3. Sandwich cheese between the hanpen on a plate.
4. Pour the sauce from Step 3 over them evenly and top with the nuts for decoration.
5. This is the cheese that I used.

Story Behind this Recipe

The cheese slices are about the same size as a 1/4 slice of hanken, so I tried making sandwiches.
I thought that colourful and fragrant basil sauce would go well with this, so I tried it.
