Non-fried Candied Sweet Potatoes

Instead of frying them in oil, you can steam fry them! If you want to make the outside crispy, increase the amount of oil and sugar. There's no way to fail at making this!


Sweet potatoes
1 1/2 tablespoons
a small amount
Honey (Optional)
1 tablespoon
Black sesame seeds
2 tablespoons
Vegetable oil
1 1/2 tablespoons


1. Roughly chop up the sweet potatoes and the soak them in water to remove the bitterness.
2. Place a sheet of parchment paper in a frying pan. Add in the vegetable oil, sugar, and salt and mix together. Spread it out with a spoon.
3. Turn the heat on low and add in the sweet potatoes. Cover with a lid and steam for 5-6 minutes. When halfway, cooked, turn them over. Then poke with a bamboo skewer. Once it can be poked all the way through, they're ready.
4. To finish, raise the heat, mix in the sesame seeds and honey, and it's done! I think they taste best when they're a bit more golden.
