The Shimeji Mushroom Dish My Shimeji-Hating Son Gobbled Up!

My shimeji mushroom-hating oldest son said, "Wow, this is delicious" and ate it up! With garlic, butter and soy sauce, of course they're delicious.

Ingredients: 2 to 3 servings

Shimeji mushrooms
1 packet
Garlic
1 clove
Soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon plus
Butter and pepper
A small amount

Steps

1. Finely chop the garlic. Stir-fry the garlic until fragrant over low heat in a pan. Add the mushrooms.
2. Stir-fry the shimeji mushrooms until wilted, then pour the soy sauce on the hot surface of the pan and mix in. Add the butter and pepper to finish.

Story Behind this Recipe

My middle school son brought home garlic from Aomori prefecture when he went to work at a French restaurant. (Note: Aomori is renowned for its garlic). My son loves king oyster mushrooms and maitake mushrooms, is so-so about enoki mushrooms and hates shimeji mushrooms - I don't quite understand his weird taste. I only had shimeji mushrooms in the house, so I cooked them like this and got a "Yum!" from him.
