Mr. Chestnut Onigiri (Rice Ball)

Fall reminds me of... chestnuts!
I made my usual onigiri rice ball into a chestnut character.

Ingredients: Makes 1 Mr. Chestnut

Plain cooked rice
1/2 rice ball (about 75 g)
●Mentsuyu or preferred flavoring
as needed
White sesame seeds
as much as you like
Nori seaweed
as needed
Green pea
Sliced cheese
a small amount
a small amount


1. Mix the cooked rice with ●, cover with plastic wrap, and form into a chestnut shape. Cover the bottom of the rice ball with white sesame seeds.
2. (Facial features) Eyebrows, eyes, mouth... nori seaweed. Nose... green pea. Hands... cheese. Cheeks... carrot.
3. How to make the hands: Cut out the cheese with a flower-shaped cookie cutter, then cut it into a hand.
4. The tools I used: Nori seaweed cutters and a flower-shaped cookie cutter
5. Pack the rice ball in a bento box, thinly spread mayonnaise onto the backs of the face parts and paste them in place, and then...
6. Your Mr. Chestnut is all done!
