Katsuo no Tatsuta-age (Fried Bonito)

You can’t resist eating this dish with a nice garlic soy sauce aroma.
This recipe is not deep fried but still crispy and also healthy.

Ingredients: 2 servings

2 pieces
1 tablespoon
★Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
1 clove (2 cm if using garlic from a tube)
★Ginger (grated)
a scant 1 teaspoon (2cm if using ginger from a tube)
as needed


1. Cut bonito into bite sized pieces and dry well with a paper towel. Mix ★ and marinate bonito in this. Set aside for more than 10 minutes.
2. Coat Step 1 with katakuriko. Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Place bonito in the pan and cover it with a lid. Once one side is cooked, flip over.
3. Cook until golden brown and transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve on a plate. Done.
