Easy Dandan Noodle-style Soup with Bean Sprouts

Leftover bean sprouts? Make this easy Dandan noodle soup.
Use more hot chili oil if you like spicy food.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Sesame oil
As required
Garlic
1 clove
Ginger
1 small piece
● Hot water
1 1/2 cups (300 ml)
● Chinese soup stock powder
1 teaspoon
● Zhimajiang (Chinese sesame paste or normal sesame paste)
1 1/2 tablespoons
● Vinegar
1 teaspoon
● Soy sauce
1 teaspoon
● Ground sesame seeds
1 1/2 tablespoons
●Chili oil with Sichuan Pepper (or Ra-yu)
1 tablespoon
● Black pepper
To taste
● Doubanjiang
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon (adjust to your liking)
Bean sprouts
1/2 packet
Ground pork (or chicken, if you prefer it light)
20 g

Steps

1. Heat the sesame oil in a sauce pan and fry the garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add the ground meat and fry.
2. Add the ● ingredients into the pan and simmer. After bringing to the boil add the bean sprouts.
3. When the bean sprouts are cooked through, it is done. I like bean sprouts nice and crunchy.
4. I forgot to put doubanjiang in the ingredients list so I added it. It's still tasty but I like it spicy.

Story Behind this Recipe

I had leftover bean sprouts after making Dandan noodles the other day.
I wanted to make it again the next day but decided to make an easy bean sprout Dandan-style soup instead.
